Dick Clark Scholarship

 title=

The Dick Clark Supply Chain Leadership and Character Scholarship at Texas A&M University recognizes the career contributions made by a remarkable man, Richard A. “Dick” Clark. Dick has been hailed as the ‘Father of Demand Planning’ and his vision, passion and commitment to driving innovation in supply chain planning changed how business works to meet customer demand.

In a career spent largely with Procter & Gamble (P&G), Dick held various positions managing supply chain planning and forecasting and played a crucial role in the development of innovative software solutions that expanded demand planning benefits for P&G. At the time of his death on September 7, 2011, Dick was the Global Process Leader for Demand Planning for P&G.

However, his most important contribution may be that his hard work and determination resulted in making demand planning a respected and rewarding career path for so many. Throughout his career, Dick fought for demand planning excellence—and for recognition of its true strategic business value. His legacy is the trained global planners across industry and around the world that carry on the work of supply chain innovation.

The scholarship was established in 2011 at Dick's alma mater, Texas A&M Foundation at the University’s Dwight Look College of Engineering, with initial funding from Terra Technology. The Texas A&M Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution supply chain program is home to the Global Supply Chain Laboratory.
