Raymond G. Drewry

Raymond Drewry has served on the Board of Advisors since January 2004. He has over 22 years of experience in the software industry, including positions as Vice President of Technology and Strategy, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering for Liberate, an amalgam formed from divisions spun off from Netscape and Oracle. As Vice President of Engineering, Raymond directed a team of 120 engineers in four locations, working to improve the product lifecycle. He spearheaded Liberate’s future product and technology planning as Chief Technology Officer, and developed three and five year plans for mergers, acquisitions, and business trends to direct research and development for the firm as Vice President of Technology and Strategy. In his current position as Executive Technology Consultant he provides technology due diligence for companies exploring investment opportunities in technology companies and technology companies seeking investors. Raymond has also served on the Board of Advisors for Amidzad Venture Partners since 2001, and has two US Patents. He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Computer Science and Latin from Yale University.

Evan L. Kaplan

Evan L. Kaplan was elected as President and Chief Executive Officer of iPass in mid-November 2008. He brings to iPass nearly two decades of experience providing enterprises with IP-based communications services.

Earlier, Evan served as CEO and President of Aventail Corporation, a Seattle-based network communications company, which was acquired by Sonicwall, Inc. in July 2007. He launched Aventail from his home in 1996. It was one of the first early infrastructure companies to deliver software-based technology as a service and served blue chip enterprise clients including IBM, Kraft, Dupont, Verizon and AT&T.

Prior to Aventail, Evan led product management and business development functions at WRQ, Inc., a Seattle software company. He also served as Senior Program Manager for Proximity Indication and Control Systems with Crane Aerospace.

Evan has been voted one of Network World's 50 Most Powerful People in the Networking Industry. He was recognized as Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in the Pacific Northwest. He has served as a board member for the Young Presidents Organization; the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Washington; the Washington Software Association (now WTIA); and the Networld + Interop industry trade show. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Trusera Corporation and the advisory boards of Mpire, Xoopit, CityID, Terra Technology and Standard Renewables.

Evan earned an MBA degree from the University of Washington.

Maarten Van Buren

Maarten Van Buren has served on the Board of Advisors since 2001 and has over 30 years of experience in supply chain and manufacturing organizations. He has held senior management positions in the USA and Europe for major international consumer products and pharmaceutical companies including Abbott Laboratories, Unilever and Continental Can Company. Maarten played a key role in the successful turn–around & expansion of Unilever’s largest company in the USA (Lever Brothers Company) as well as the return to profitability of Continental Can’s European subsidiary primarily by restructuring the 6–plant operation in France and successfully integrating the newly acquired company in the Czech Republic. He was the President and CEO of Rexam, which makes coated films and served as CEO of Ferembal, a subsidiary of Continental Can. Maarten has also served on the Board of Advisors of Adexa, a supply chain software company, and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Maarten holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
